A moving stop-motion inspired by the short poem of the same name by Chilean Nobel Laureate Pablo Neruda. The animation is composed of hand-drawn paper stencils for each individual frame of animation, using rotoscoping and video compositing software to pull off the layered strata effect.

The Me Bird was produced by the Brazilian motion graphics studio 18bis, 2009.

The behind-the-scenes video provides a brief glimpse at the painstaking process and level of teamwork needed to create the finished product.
